Putting the Strategy 2010 Programme Framework into Perspective

During the Annual Members’ Meeting of 10 May 2006 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, GKP Members adopted the Strategy 2010 Programme Framework as the underlying guidance for GKP activities up to the year 2010.

The S2010 Programme Framework serves two main functions. One, it helps GKP think strategically and act operationally by giving the entire network a visionary, conceptual, and directional focus for its programmes. Two, it sends a message to those outside the organisation, particularly partners, funders and the greater community of K4D & ICT4D players and practitioners, that GKP is clear on what it wants to do and where it wants go over from 2006 - 2010, and how to get there.

Accordingly, this framework lays out six objectives and four thematic areas within which all GKP programmes and activities are to be planned, carried out, supported and achieved.

All programmes fall within 3 categories:

  • Network Programmes - comprising 3 types of activities which are strictly for administering and strengthening the Network: Annual Members' Meeting ; Training and Regional Network Meetings.
