GKP Global Partnership Programme (GPP) Information

Eligibility Criteria

  • Involves activities that are global, regional, or multi-national (not single-country) in scope;
  • Has global relevance, impact and implications;
  • Has a clear, identifiable strategy for expansion/replication, regionally and globally;
  • Involves thematic experts;
  • Features innovation;
  • Has a clearly articulated value proposition for GKP and the target beneficiary;
  • Has a built-in action-research component that codifies gained knowledge and experience to enhance the GKP's Knowledge Assets; and
  • Includes feasible propositions on sustainability and is sustainable in every sense, social and financial.

Project Proponent and Partnership Management

  • Multi-stakeholder (cross-sectoral consortia) in design and delivery.
  • Formalised through a Partnership Agreement that specifies roles and responsibility of partners.
  • Has a GKP Member as champion or project lead to liaise with GKPS.
  • May involve other GKP members and non-members. Ideally, majority should be non-members so as to expand GKP Network.
  • Involve partners of strategic value to GKP, with a focus on the following:
  1. GKP priority targets that includes Government and Business entities;
  2. ICT4D thematic expert communities that are under-represented in the GKP Network;
  3. Cross-sectoral partners must contribute to project direction and decision-making, share risks, contribute resources, and be actively involved in project implementation; and
  4. Partnership must draw on complementary strengths of stakeholders.

 

Themes & Research

  • GPP themes should fall under the GKP Strategy 2010 themes.
  • Projects should embed an action-research component, specifically:
  1. Action-research with respect to development impact of the initiative; and
  2. Action-research with respect to the Multi-Stakeholder Partnership process – partnership exploration, partnership building and partnership maintenance.


GKP’s Commitment

While responsibility for raising funds for onward sustainability or scale-up is shared between the project proponent and their partners, GKP will actively:

  1. Assist project proponents in fundraising efforts to sustain the project; and
  2. Promote the project to potential donors at every appropriate opportunity.


Expected Outputs from Project

  • Brokered Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships that truly demonstrate the benefits and effective utility of the Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships approach.
  • New GKP Partners and Members: Grow the GKP Network.
  • Learning and Knowledge Products: Grow GKP Knowledge Assets.
