Stockholm Challenge GKP Awards 2007The Stockholm Challenge GKP Awards 2007 is a parallel initiative to the Stockholm Challenge 2008. A collaboration between the Stockholm Challenge and Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP), the joint awards reflect the complementary interests and strengths of both organisations as important platforms for the global promotion of Knowledge for Development (K4D) and ICT for Development (ICT4D). The Stockholm Challenge GKP Awards 2007 prizes were awarded to projects that demonstrate exemplary and innovative Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships in four Stockholm Challenge Award categories: Education, Culture, Economic Development and Public Administration. A MSP is defined as a working partnership involving stakeholder organisations from 3 sectors (government, business and civil society) that leverage on complementary competencies and shares project costs, risks and benefits for a common goal. The four winners for the Stockholm Challenge - GKP Awards 2007 were announced and celebrated during the GKP Event on the Future, Third Global Knowledge Conference, GK3 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 11 to 13 December 2007. The winners in the four contested ICT4D categories are:
Culture: Jury comment: “A good example of a public good provided in partnership to ensure sustainability.”
Education:
Jury Comment: Empowerment through collaboration. The use of older computers is a great plus. ... a great example for other minority language groups.” Public Administration: Jury comment: “A project that electronically expands the community center into isolated rural areas."
