Membership Criteria & How to Join

How to Join GKP

  1. Membership to GKP is open to all organisations whose objectives and activities are consistent with the Vision and Mission of GKP, and who fulfill the membership criteria.
  2. All members are ordinary members. No other categories of members exists.
  3. There is no double-membership for different entities belonging to the same organisation, except if a double membership fee is paid or if they are separate legal entities.
  4. Membership ends when the membership criteria are no longer met.
  5. GKP Membership at large is responsible for:
    i. Electing the Executive Committee
    ii. Approving the overall strategic and policy framework of GKP
    iii. Approving the Governance Document
    iv. Approving the annual activity report from the Executive Committee

Membership Criteria

An organisation seeking membership in GKP needs to demonstrate that it:

  1. Endorses the Vision, Mission, principles, and goals of GKP;
  2. Is committed to sharing its knowledge;
  3. Is institutionally and financially well established;
  4. Has the necessary resources to participate effectively in face-to-face and virtual GKP activities;
  5. Enriches GKP diversity as a global multi-stakeholder network and share their contacts and experience;
  6. Subscribes to GKP partnerships principles as well as to the principles of good governance;
  7. Is active and experienced in the area of "Knowledge and ICT for Development" as tools for equitable sustainable development;
  8. Fulfils the members' responsibilities as described below.

 

GKP Member Responsibilities

  1. Sharing Knowledge: Actively contributing knowledge to GKP Programme and activities;
  2. Building Partnerships: Actively initiating and participating in partnership activities with other members;
  3. Implementing Strategy 2010 : Participating in GKP Programme and activities under Strategy 2010;
  4. Promoting GKP: Ensuring GKP promotion and agreeing to the mutual use of organisational name and logo for cross advertisement;
  5. Membership Outreach: Facilitating recruitment of new GKP members;
  6. Financial Contribution: Fulfilling the annual membership cash contribution requirement (the modalities and amounts are defined in the Membership Cash Contribution Policy); and
  7. Network Governance: Electing the Executive Committee and approving the GKP Strategy, the Governance Document and the annual activity report.

Decision Process on Membership Questions

Decisions regarding membership issues, including the membership status of an organisation, are taken by the Membership Committee, based on proposals prepared by the GKP Secretariat. The concerned member may appeal to the Executive Committee.

 

Application Process

If, after reading the membership criteria, responsibilities, commitments and decision process, you would like to become an active GKP Member, please submit an application using our online application process.

 

Completed applications will be submitted to the Membership Committee for review. The Membership Committee includes representatives from private sector, NGO, government and multilateral organisations. Please note that payment of the Membership Cash Contribution (MCC) is upon approval of the membership application. Once your application has been successfully processed, we will contact you to welcome your organisation to Global Knowledge Partnership!
